The Honda Foundation helps Inala promote a healthy lifestyle

For nearly 70 years, Inala has been providing disability services in Sydney’s Northwest and Eastern Suburbs. Supporting almost 200 individuals across five Day Service locations and 15 residential homes, Inala is a very special community for many.

"To find a home at Inala, means joining a very special community.” said Inala CEO Alexandra Davis.

A Rudolf Steiner-inspired service, Inala’s programs, supports, and services are focused on each individual to give them choice to develop new skills and interests. With staff at Inala ensuring participants are not just supported but live a purposeful life.

“No matter if you attend Inala through our day services or residential homes, we put our programs together around the individual to allow each person to live a full and meaningful life.” Ms Davis said.

Inala is committed to ensuring each residence is a real home in the true sense of the word. Individuals actively participate in the running of their home, enjoy visits from family and friends, and engage in activities in the local community.

This year Inala was thrilled to receive a grant through the Honda Foundation for a wheelchair scale which has been put into our residential home Kyra.

One of those who benefited from the grant was Keisha, who is an accomplished artist. Late last year she took part in an exhibition at Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf, with her artwork selected by the gallery as the feature work for the exhibition.

Keisha’s paintings are bright, vibrant, and colourful. Using broad brush strokes, shapes, and colour together she is able to create movement and energy in her paintings.

She works with artists and teachers at Inala to further develop her craft and continues to grow as an artist. Inala thanks the Honda Foundation for their support and looks forward to continuing a strong relationship between the Foundation and Inala.
